Got a Revolution!: The Turbulent Flight of Jefferson Airplane:

"Jeff Tamarkin tells this story with true affection for the music, the band and the cultural revolution that frames this tale." Author Jeff Tamarkin has been one of the most respected and prolific music journalists in the country. For 15 years he was Editor of Goldmine, the bible of record/CD collectors. Prior to that, he served as the first Editor of CMJ and as Editor of Relix. He was also the first Editor of Grateful Dead Comix, has written for dozens of publications, including Billboard, Pulse, Creem, Mojo, Newsday, Harp, Boston Phoenix, Tracks and ICE, and has contributed to the Guinness Encyclopedia of Popular Music and the All-Music Guide. He has written the liner notes for more than 70 CDs, including most of the Jefferson Airplane catalog, as well as related CDs by Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship and solo albums by the members of those bands. Got a Revolution! The Turbulent Flight of Jefferson Airplane (Atria Books) was his first book. Take Me to a Circus Tent: The Jefferson Airplane Flight Manual - Book

CD_Creig_Fenton.jpg

Marty Balin is quoted on the back cover “Craig Fenton knows so much about Jefferson Airplane and family, I was asking him the questions.”  The most comprehensive look at the live and unreleased (studio) history of the Jefferson Airplane ever compiled. 90 photos, 121 performances, 110 different songs, 33 Jams, a combination of 36 improvisations, riffs, and vocal teases are examined. Explore 60 unreleased, alternate, excerpts, Jams, demos, rehearsals, and rough mixes. Including the earliest authenticated studio recording, the demo for Columbia Records (That is correct) circa 8/65. Find 266 questions, and answers, regarding the Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, KBC Band, SVT, and Wooden Ships. For dessert, 33 interviews from Jefferson Airplane, Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, and San Francisco friends (Not quotes but interviews).
Craig Fenton is a former radio disc-jockey and an archivist of Jefferson Airplane music for the past three decades. The research is both meticulous and fascinating. Having been afforded the opportunity to interview various musicians and athletes over the years, Craig has been able to obtain a good deal of information not previously discussed in print. His true passion for the music is evident with the comments from many musicians found in the book. Craig resides in Central, New Jersey but is always a quick flight away for the smooth ride to J.A. headquarters.
